. joining me now are msnbc political analyst steve schmidt, senior adviser on the mccain '08 campaign and joy reid, nbc contributor. this latest video about him wanting to send president obama as he puts it back to kenya was pulled out today. it's been around. they highlighted it. and then the senator put out a statement saying he doesn't -- his father doesn't speak for him. >> it's so precious when the guy whose son was born in canada does birther jokes. that's adorable. it highlights without the media officially there kind of the way conservatives are talking amongst themselves. and that really is the problem. the problem is even with the 47% video, this was mitt romney being asked by somebody in the audience how can we get those moochers to stop taking our tax money and living on the dole. he answered that question with 47%. the conversations taking place inside the conservative base shows ugliness outwardly. >> steve schmidt, the other thing in that video is a strong sense of superiority. we are superior people to the other people we're talking about, be it the president of the un

light rain out there, sal of course watching the roads for you, but first let's start with steve pallson, what do you see? >> i see a little bit of rain towards santa rosa and the russian river. otherwise it's cloudy. most locations say cloudy, a little bit of rain, some of it not showing up on the radar. it's below the radar beam and we'll continue to see just -- forestville has picked up 15/100 and santa rosa a tenth in 24 hours. it's a little bit. there is good rain to the north. it's definitely up towards the northern part of the state and there's a good stream of moisture taking aim at us today. a lot of that has to work its way in. favor the north bay maybe for the morning even though that's not much. you can see this cloud cover streaming in. later on for the morning commute, most people will not get rain on them. 50s on the temps and i don't expect those to change at all. there's plenty of moisture moving in. i wish there was a little more forcing or lift in the atmosphere, that would help, but north, yes, you get some rain. otherwise south bay may have to wait a long, long time.

castanedo is keeping an eye on the slick roads. we begin with meteorologist, steve paulson. >> all right, tori. thank you. >>> well, as you know, this year has been bone-dry. we'll take any rain we can get. there's a little bit moving through. not a lot. these un-- unfortunately, it's not continue use. these are just bands. in marin county, napa county, very light kind of intermittent. it's heading towards over san pablo bay and towards concord, east bay, highway 4. again, there's not a lot here. you see the light green. this is kind of a mist. maybe might goat a pocket or two. vallejo has had .01. duncan mills, it's been raining off and on lightly for about two hours. it looks like they are on a little bit of a break. but the russian river, all of that rain sometimes doesn't show up on the river. there is a lot of cloud cover. unfortunately, you know when you got a good front. this is not a good front. it's a lot of overrunning rain. we don't have the lift to give us a good rainfall. it can stack up if it continues and that that would be the face to the north. a lot of 50s to the north

delaying tactics, no more mickey mouse. and with any luck, there will be action. steve kornacki and joan walsh. well, the president's enemies have made history in the ferocity and frequency of their attacks on the most basic jobs of the president in febds they challenged his right but filibustering the confirmation of chuck hagel. to protect consumers by holding up his nominee for the protective bureau. for two full years. that nominee was finally confirmed in july. in october they challenged his right of blocking mel watt to head the federal housing finance committee. while it was to be the first member of congress to be denied confirmation since the civil war. and most recently, any judges between october 31st and november 18th. shot them all three of the president's nominees to d.c. court of appeals. today they invoke what's called the nuclear option. it kills the republican threat of a filibuster on most presidential appointments. but the bigger message is clear. democrats and this president have gone to war with their enemies finally. let's listen to the president. >> today's patter

months later, steve, the survivors, the people who survived the attack in benghazi have not been made available to the u.s. congress for oversight pumps. so i'm going to block every appointment in the senate until the survivors are being made available to the congress. >> that was the morning after the "60 minutes" piece aired. but nothing from senator lindsey graham today. and david, how does he justify blocking every post that the president proposes? i'm talking about the head of federal reserve, all of these things that have absolutely nothing to do with benghazi. >> sure. well, you're right. they've been quiet today. at least as far as we knew by mid-afternoon, fox has not covered this story at all. what's going to happen here rather than what should happen is they're going to have some closed door hearings next week in front of a partisan committee. this source didn't work out for them. but they're going to keep looking and looking until somebody says what they want them to say. what should happen here is the republicans, "60 minutes" should apologize to the american people. they
